In November of 2022, Martha discovered a lump in her left breast, 1 month later she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. In January of 2023, she underwent a mastectomy of her left breast.
She will undergo both chemo and immunotherapy over the course of the next year to prevent the return and or spread of her breast cancer. In addition, she will be under the care of an oncologist for the next 5 years.
Unfortunately, Martha has experienced a diminished level of care, concern, and resources in her outgoing battle against breast cancer. However, her unwillingness to accept this double standard of care along with her resilient spirit has inspired her to launch Martha’s Journey.
In addition to actively fighting cancer, she will empower other cancer patients with the necessary tools, support, and guidance to defeat cancer and maintain both their decency and quality of life.
“If not us, then who? If not now, then when? We may not have chosen the time, but the time has chosen us.”
